Add color to The Macintosh OS X Color Picker

Recommended Posts

Pick the colour, then click the large colour field right to the magnifying glass and drag the color swatch to one of the little colour wells immediately above the “Cancel” and “OK” buttons … that should work …  :)

Because it isn't well documented by Apple, the Mac Color Picker includes much more functionality than many people realize. This article, although a little dated, covers just about everything it can do.

Of particular interest to Affinity users may be the "Why is there a Gray Corner in the Color Swatch?" & "To Set the Color Space for a Swatch" items, how to use & manage the Swatch Drawer items (where the little color wells live), & all the stuff about making, using, & managing custom palettes with the Palette picker.

Also, as you may know any system palettes created in Affinity via the Swatches panel will appear in the Mac Color Picker in the Palettes tab.

EDIT:

@uncle808us:

Expand the "Moving Colors into the Swatch Drawer" item in the article for a graphic explanation of what A_B_C was talking about.
