thinktank
I have seen that having bleeds is available once a document has been created (not DURING document setup that I've seen??). However, the document layout doesn't "show" the bleed marks to insert a graphic that needs to bleed during professional printing. Am I just missing something? I am trying to replicate some of the functionality of Adobe InDesign to get rid of monthly payments. Just purchased Designer today so have only watched about 10 tutorials so far. Can you assist me? Also, is there a way to create "Japanese Dots" for a path (once again ala' InDesign) vs. more clunky dash-type configuration. Thanks in advance! MikeW
There is no visible bleed region in AD. It's there and works, but no visible definition. One can draw a rectangle, make it the size of the page + twice the amount of bleed, then position it such that it then shows where the bleed is defined. I usually drag it to the bottom of the layer stack. then be sure to turn off its visibility before exporting to PDF else the rectangle is present in the PDF. This works for the single page type of document. I believe artboards will not display anything off the artboard. No Japanese dots. Don't even know if one can define them properly as I haven't tried. AD is not ever going to be a substitute for ID, with an exception of very, very simple documents. If and when Affinity Publisher gets released, it won't be a replacement for ID except for simple ID documents for a couple or more years after its release.
