Hi, I am trying to overlay text, to give a 3d effect , and need to cut out the bottom layer as using this for screen printing and do not want to print on top of colours...struggling to do this simply, other than reducing the opacity of top layer and selecting areas and deleting...

Thanks

I suspect this is fairly simple, but I am a little unclear about how you are trying to get a 3D effect. Are you planning to use several layers of the same text for a sort of drop shadow, or have you drawn a 3-D like extrusion?

In either case, the basic operation is to subtract the upper objects from the lower. It can be more or less simple depending on how many layers need to be subtracted, and how the text needs to be manipulated as curves.
