[Designer] New to Affintiy, a few questions.

Hello,

 

I am new to Affinity (still on the trial) and have a few questions:

1. Is there any form of student discount, I am aware that there wasn't about a year ago but am wondering if anything has been changed now.
2. In the image that I am working on (see below) there are visible white lines between curves despite there being no stroke, is there any easy way to remove them?
3. Is there any way to add a curve to multiple groups so that it takes an average of the adjustments applied to those two groups. In my situation for the image below, I have three groups (front, side and top) and apply brightness adjustments on them to give the impression of shadow; the issue is that the roof parts should belong to two groups (front-top and side-top) so that they take an average of the shadow for better effect, is this possible?
4. Finally, is there a way to exempt a curve in a group from the adjustments on that group (in my ecapleI want the light to be exempt from the shadow).

I don't know that Serif offers a student discount. 

 

The white lines are most likely due to a problem w. the rasterization routine. As a work around, add a stroke of the same color to the fill, with the stroke centered or on the outside.

 

Both fx and layer adjustments can be used on groups. 

 

In the layers panel, open the group. The layer order may need to be changed for easier use. But then, just select the objects you want the effect of adjustment, and apply only to them.

Hmm... Do you know if that would be fixed in the future / if there is a more permanent solution? Otherwise, the workaround will have to do.

Yep, that is what I ended up doing in the end. Wish there was an easier solution though.

I think it was one of the devs that said the fix for the white line problem was "non-trivial." From what I know of "computer speak" it means it may be really a pain to fix.

 

I haven't needed to work w. "symbols."  But one symbol can be changed in any document,  and all other instances of the symbol will change together no matter what group it is in.
