Missing Spanish translations and one error [Updated]

Recommended Posts

Hi there, guys!

I've been using the Beta and here are some things I've found about missing translations to Spanish or typos, and a single application error. If I find more, I'll post it here to help you guys.

  1. It should be "lugar" insstead of "ligar"
  2. There should be a period at the end of the text line as well, after "SVG".

Texto1.png

  1. Translation for "Show Glyph Browser" would be "Mostrar explorador de Glifos" or "Mostrar explorador de Pictogramas".
  2. It should be "Estilos", with a single "t".

Texto2.png

  1. It should be "Gama", with a single "m" if we are talking about color intensity. "Gamma" in Spanish is the greek letter or the radiation.
  2. Translation for "UI Style" would be "Estilo de interfaz de usuario".

Texto3.png

  1. Translation for "Glyph Browser" would be "Explorador de Glifos" or "Explorador de Pictogramas".
  2. For all the categories here I'll post a list after the image.

There are 273 blocks in Unicode 9.0. Are you sure you want to do this?? (Edit: In your example there are fewer than thirty blocks listed. I've attached a screenshot for another font which covers more than forty blocks.)

Many of the names of Unicode blocks have been translated into Spanish for the column on the right-hand side of this page, but some of them (e.g. "Combining Diacritical Marks Extended") have obviously been overlooked.

There are many already translated to Spanish. For example, in this page (see "Mapa de caracteres"). Also, many of those Blocks are langues (like Thai or Greek). Maybe we can create a Document on Google and then it'd be a matter of completing the translation. It should be done before the Beta period ends. :P

Best regards!

That looks like quite a good list, but since the entries are not arranged according to the numerical order of the block ranges there would be a lot of rearranging to do. For example, the first ten on the list look like this:

value="1" Latín básico
value="2" Caracteres complementarios del latín 1
value="3" Extensión del latín-A
value="4" Extensión del latín-B
value="80" Extensión del latín-C
value="108" Extensión del latín-D
value="53" Extensión del latín adicional
value="117" Formas de presentación alfabética
value="121" Variantes de formas pequeñas
In the Blocks.txt file for Unicode 9.0, the list begins like this:
0000..007F; Basic Latin
0080..00FF; Latin-1 Supplement
0100..017F; Latin Extended-A
0180..024F; Latin Extended-B
0250..02AF; IPA Extensions
02B0..02FF; Spacing Modifier Letters
0300..036F; Combining Diacritical Marks
0370..03FF; Greek and Coptic
0400..04FF; Cyrillic
0500..052F; Cyrillic Supplement

Good find! That looks quite promising. :)

Edit: I see that it's missing some of the supplementary blocks.

I found this too. It helped a lot... but some of the Blocks gave me a hard time, but Google also help a bit. :P

Anyway, the result is this document for anyone to see and download. It's the Beta version... so it surely needs some polishing but for the time being there is nothing missing.

Best regards!

I think the LibreOffice one looks like it might be more reliable than the LibreCAD one. For example, on the LibreOffice page "IPA Extensions" is translated as "Ampliaciones del AFI" but on the LibreCAD page it's translated as "Extensiones IPA". I don't speak Spanish, but IPA is the abbreviation for "International Phonetic Alphabet", and I would expect the Spanish word for "phonetic" to begin with an F, not a P.

You are right. That is the complete translation. Thanks for pointing that out, now it's "Extensiones del AFI", Alfabeto Fonético Internacional. I also changed "CJK" for "CJC" (Chino, Japonés, Coreano).

You're welcome.

If I have any corrections or improvements for the Unicode Blocks, I'll update the file and let you know.

I see that Tangut in your spreadsheet is shown as "Tangut" in Spanish, but Tangut Components is shown as "Tangu Componentes". I would expect the latter to be "Componentes Tangut".

I'm curious to know where you found the later ones to add to the list. The LibreOffice document (from your earlier link) stops at Tangut Components.

I was struggling with that one, because it'd make sense on both alphabetical order and taking "Componentes" the same way as "Extendido" or "Suplementario" but not necessarily since it's not really an adjective.

But I think it makes more sense the other way around. By the way, some of the elements on the list were product of a Google search. Let me know which one you are curious about.

Best regards!

Hi!

I updated the document with the new version of Unicode (thanks to Alfred for telling me about it).

The new blocks are at the end of the sheet, but there is one missing and I'm not sure abour the one in blue. I hope to check that later.

Best regards!

Hi there.

Well, I updated this document so it should be more accurate.

Up until now the Betas for Designer and Photo don't have most parts translated; maybe they are working with an specialist (that'd be good). Anyway, I hope this helps.

Best regards!
