I successfully tried a black and white print having converted a colour pic using toning persona. However I am now completely unable to print in colour whatever photo or settings I use. My HP printer prints fine in colour so long as I avoid printing from Affinity.

Any ideas?

Hi Corner,

Welcome to the forums.

Once you have a colour image open and use File > Print, is the preview also in colour or black and white. If you using Affinity on Windows, click the Properties button. This loads your printer driver settings, check in here to make sure nothing is set to black and white or greyscale. If on a Mac, change the dropdown to Quality & Media and see if Grayscale Printing is enabled.

Hi Lee D. Thanks for your suggestions. Print previews are in colour, the photo is described as sRGB etc. I cant see anything on the printer driver settings which says greyscale or black and white. However if I set the HP properties to colour prior to printing, then click back before pressing the go button, I find the properties have been reset to monochrome. Printing from my phone produces an ordinary colour picture. The problem only seems to happen if I try printing a photo with the affinity logo before the file name, whether via Affinity or other software.

If files have an Affinity logo it usually means they are saved in our file format, so only Affinity will be able to open them. You can also assign different image formats to open with Affinity within macOS. Where do you see the Go button as Affinity doesn't have one and which model of HP do you have?

Hi Lee D. I use windows and the printer is an HP Envy 4520. I used "Go" too loosely. What I mean is that having set a file up to print from Affinity, I check the printer dialogue box and find it set to monochrome. I change it to colour click away to Affinity to press print but first click back to check again and find Affinity has overridden me and reset the driver to monochrome.

I can't reproduce the issue with the printers we have available, on the Print window, set everything correctly. Then click on the Presets dropdown and select Save Current Settings as Presets and then print with that new preset selected. On doing an internet search I found afew with the same model printer having similar issues. Most suggestions are to uninstall and reinstall the drivers and also not use the AirPrint drivers, make sure the HP ones are being used.
