CANON EOS M6 - RAW COMPATIBILITY

Hi! 

 

I'm exploring possibilities of AFFINITY PHOTO to get a license, but im checking RAW compatibility list and the new one CANON EOS M6 isn't in the list, and i want to know if this upgrade will be ready soon, cause, i'm not decide wich software use for editing photo yet. 

 

Most of the RAW PHOTO EDITORS, didn't have this new compatibility with EOS M6 and M5 like CAPTURE ONE, this morning support team response to my question about this issue and the said: " ...our ambition is to support  all top selling high end camera models." ... isn't nice? ...ok.

 

If someone should bring me a light about this issue, will be wellcome!

Welcome to Affinity Forums :)

We update the RAW compatibility list regularly (usually on minor point updates like the upcoming Photo 1.6) but I can't assure you this specific camera will be supported in the next update in our RAW engine at this point. Even so Affinity Photo has another RAW engine available - Apple (Core Image RAW) -, which is updated by Apple itself. So there's also chances that Apple may update their engine before us.

According to this list, additional formats supported by iOS 10.2 and macOS 10.12.2 include Canon EOS M5 but not M6.

So, May you explain or refer a tutorial to know how APPLE CORE IMAGE RAW Engine for AFFINITY PHOTO works? I suppose it is like an "plugin"?

Hi Santome,

To switch to Apple (Core Image Raw) just go to menu View ▸ Assistant Manager... in Develop Persona and select the RAW engine you want to use from the first dropdown. If you are in Photo Persona it's also possible to switch to the Develop Assistant using the same menu command (View ▸ Assistant Manager...) then clicking the Develop Assistant button on the bottom left of the panel.
