Clone and healing brush

Once you have the Clone or Healing brush selected, you need to press & hold the ALT key and single left click to set the source. Let go of ALT and you'll notice a small back cross where you set the source. Now move your brush to set the distance between your source & destination and start editing. Hope this helps.

Welcome to the forum :)

Gerhard,

Can you give me me more info about this pls :) . I'm trying to work out if there is a problem in the Help.

"..tried the Help but for the brushes there are only headlines (links don´t work)"

I tried a search for cloning which gave me the Cloning and Healing topic. How did you  get to broken links.

Cheers

Andy

Hi Andy, I searched for clone brush and got 4 or 5 headlines about it. They turned blue when I went mouse over and showed all signs of an active link but when I clicked nothing happened. I attached a screen shot all the links related to affinity don´t work

Gerhard,

Interesting - I couldn't reproduce this but I did notice that your help is showing in a Safari window.

I'm not sure how you got that to happen but this may explain the links being broken.

Can you confirm that you clicked the Help>Affinity Photo Help and then searched on the top-right input box within the Help itself.

Thanks for taking the time to reply by the way.

Andy

I'm on Mavericks and the Affinity Photo Help search function doesn't work. The wheel starts spinning and nothing happens. No, wrong, the CPU starts heating up und Help doesn't respond anymore. So basically I've learned AP from the Videos or some posts or questions here.

Hi MEB, that's what I've also tried. No success, same wheel spinning forever without presenting any result.

But don't panic, I don't need all features for my images, I'm just curious and sometimes start playing with the features. To be honest, in most cases all I need is the clone tool to remove dust on scanned images, curve to slightly modify specific areas and resize image so agency or customer staff won't get a heart attack when opening the monsters.

Hi

Don't know if anyone is still having difficulty with various brushes not working. I have just bought Affinity Photo and found this happening to me.

What I did which seemed to fix it is this : Go to your layers palette and unlock the background layer - as soon as I did this the brushes worked.

Hope that helps.

My healing brush tool is not working! Not reacting to the option key. I have wireless keyboard and Intous pro pen on my Mac Pro (under 10.11.6 El Capitan). When I push the option key, breafly show up the hear line, but when I touch the Intous surface with my pen the marks disappear and show the healing brush warning sign.

Similar here with the Wacom (Intuos 5), but not even a warning sign pops when the pen reaches the surface.

[ Offtopic: Could you try what I am describing in this thread regarding the brush size/hardness changing?

I don't know, whether these problems are Wacom or Serif related (a driver issue maybe?), or is it just me, but I desperately need a solution. ]

My Wacom driver is up to date, 6.3.19-6, if anyone would wonder.

Happy New Year everyone!

I am experiencing similar problems with the healing brush using my new iMac27 5K computer. I opened an image, chose the healing brush, click and dragged the circle over the area I wanted to affect and got the orange trail over the area and it worked on several areas. I then stopped and saved my work and closed the image out, opened it up again and tried to continue on other areas of the image and nothing....kept getting the drop down message I need to click and drag and I did do that....what's up with this tool?

I had the same problem. Here's the fix. First, make sure you have "Current Layer & Below" selected on the tool bar at the top. Then set Hardness, Flow and Opacity all to 100% (you can adjust these later). These are on the tool bar at the top, too. And make sure the Background pixel layer is selected. Then select the region you want to clone by holding down the Option key and clicking your mouse. It works for me.
