IT Systems Administrator

To help support the team at our head office in Nottingham, we are looking for a dedicated IT Systems Administrator to join our IT team.

The Role:

This is a great opportunity for an experienced IT Systems Administrator to join the IT team to support the Head of IT. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of hardware and software systems and the related infrastructure.

The IT Systems Administrator will also participate in technical research and development to help continue innovation within the infrastructure and ensure that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to industry best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Administration, maintenance and upgrades of the corporate networks, servers and telephony systems in line with corporate objectives
  • Management of the corporate firewalls and various security systems
  • Support and troubleshoot all on-site hardware devices, including MacBooks, Laptops, network infrastructure, and AV equipment
  • Manage all Affinity assets, including maintaining accurate records, procurement, provisioning, and management
  • Plan and lead projects independently to develop new technical platforms for IT services and to roll out these services to users
  • Become familiar with relevant IT-related procedures and policies (acceptable use, data protection, purchasing etc)
  • Author documentation as required in support of IT services - this could be procedures or end user documentation
  • Respond to all line faults and service requests with the goal of complete problem resolution
  • Undertake activities in support of general administrative functions as agreed by the Head of IT
  • Involvement and delivery of various other tasks at the request of the Senior Management team, and to a level commensurate with training, knowledge and skills
  • As required, undertake out of hours activities in the support of IT maintenance

  • Apple Hardware and Software
  • Linux (especially Debian-based, Amazon Linux)
  • VMware virtualisation
  • Amazon Web Services (Cloud Infrastructure and services)
  • Networking and Infrastructure
  • EMC and HP SANs
  • Sip telephony Systems
  • Saas Platforms, Office 365, Google Workspace, Jira, Confluence

You’re probably a match if

  • You possess strong verbal and written communication skills, including contributing to user and technical documentation
  • You can gather requirements and propose, implement/rollout solutions
  • You can work effectively independently and as part of a team / group
  • You have exceptional customer service skills with experience in supporting end users
  • You have at least 3 years proven commercial experience in a 2nd / 3rd Line IT Support Role or System Admin Role
  • Are agile and willing to learn and develop new skills
